Literally Everything (Even Stuff You Don't Need)

OnSong is a universal app, which means the same app™ runs on iPad, iPhone & iPod touch. You can buy OnSong once & install it on both your iPad & iPhone as long as you're using the same Apple ID (yeah, the one you definitely remember). If you're buyin' this as a family, you can set up Family Sharing through Apple (they've got a whole thing for it).

The user interface shape-shifts into compact mode dependin' on whatever device you're usin'. Like, on an iPad, OnSong uses popover menus to let you grab songs & transpose stuff. On iPhone? Modal screens & navigation do the heavy liftin'.

The Toolbar Situation

The tools that normally live in the menubar at the top? Yeah, they're ditchin' the top & movin' down to a toolbar at the bottom. This is ZOMG so much easier on your handheld device & also like, leaves more room up top for the heads-up display (fancy, we know).

On iPad, all menus pop open like they own the place. But iPhone & iPod Touch? Limited screen size means menus take over the whole bleepin' screen & open modally. It's a whole thing. Like, sometimes you gotta tap a Done or Close button to actually close 'em (wild concept, we know).

In some cases, menus close automatically when you pick somethin' if that's like, literally their whole job. For instance, the Songs Menu will close itself when you select a song or a song in a set (it's self-aware, kinda).

Song Editor (Now with LESS Buttons!)

When you're usin' OnSong on iPhone or iPod Touch, the song editor got a makeover—fewer menubar buttons showin' up, same functionality still lurkin' underneath (we're sneaky like that).

Drag & Drop (iPad Only, Soz)

iOS 11 drag & drop? iPad devices only, y'all, 'cause apparently handheld devices aren't ready for this jelly. Maybe someday these capabilities get added if Apple decides handheld devices deserve nice things.

Settings (A Few Gotchas)

There's some extra stuff & changes on iPhone you're gonna notice real quick.

Menubar settings don't have an option for Auto Show/Hide Song List 'cause that'd cover up your screen like a total jerk. Also, the progress through a set isn't visually showin' on screen, so Show Setlist Progress isn't available (surprise!).

Multiselect is a killer way to grab multiple songs & do stuff to 'em all at once. Multiselect works on these devices, but you can't Preview While Selecting (rules are rules, peeps).

OMG heads up: OnSong keeps a separate library on each device you own. You gotta use OnSong's backup, export, or sync tools to actually have the same library everywhere. We don't mind-meld your devices for ya (yet).
